Roasted Sweet Potato With Herbs & Spices

Looking for something easy to make & healthy and filling to eat?

I hear you. We’ve all had days where you’re too tired to eat, let alone figure what to eat!

This super easy to make and nutritious Roasted Sweet Potato is my take on the classic Baked Potato. It makes for an easy lunch, light dinner or even works as a side dish. When roasting the Sweet Potato, you’ll see them ooze and glisten, just before the skin scrunches up and gets all crispy. With herbs and butter, your house is guaranteed to smell of buttery, herby aroma deliciousness…can we say hello, Flavor Mojo?

Roasted Sweet Potato With Herbs

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes

Yield: 2 Servings & revelry on eating healthy, while noshing on butter.

  • 2 Yams
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. Cooking oil
  • Your choice of toppings: sour cream/green onions
    For the Seasoning:
  • 1/2 Tsp. Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 Tsp. Dried Basil
  • 1/2 Tsp. Dried Parsley
  • 1/2 Tsp. All Purpose Seasoning (I use a 21 Seasoning Salute Spice blend)
  • 1/2 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper (or Paprika if you wish)
  • 1/4 Tsp. Dried Rosemary
  • Salt & Pepper as desired, no more than 1/2 Tbsp.

  1. Rinse & dry your Yams, split into halves.
  2. On a baking tray, drizzle the cooking oil, coat the halved Yams with the oil.
  3. In a small bowl, rub the seasoning ingredients between your palms - trust me! This helps release the aroma and essential oils from the dried herbs, and totally makes a difference! Mix all the seasoning ingredients together.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning atop the Yams.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes at 425 degrees F.
  6. To check if the Yams are ready, pull them out of the oven and run a butter knife through the Yam. If ready, it will go through the Yam smoothly.
  7. Remove from the oven, top off the Yam with some butter and/or your choice toppings!
